Objective

Transforming the lines of a Haiku poem into a visual booklet. The goal was to emphasize the key elements of the poem and translate its meaning through thoughtful visual design, typography, and composition.

Benchmarking

I immersed myself in Sonia Sanchez’s Haiku [for you], exploring its vivid imagery, rhythmic flow, and emotional depth. This analysis became the foundation for creating a visual design that reflects and reinterprets the poem’s mood.

Digital Ideations

The digital iterations were built on exploring composition more intentionally through adjustments in scale, spacing, and balance. Initially, I interpreted the haiku’s words literally, but the results lacked cohesion. As the process evolved, I moved toward a more abstract direction, focusing on creating visual harmony and recurring forms across each design.
