OBJECTIVE

Create a minimal graphic of a chosen animal, using basic shapes, lines, and points to express both its physical traits and its deeper, intangible qualities.

BENCHMARKING

Gathered images and identified key aspects of the seahorse. The main attributes that stood out were its delicate, curved form and graceful movements.

Physical Characteristics
- curled tail
- small
- long nose
- spikey
- horse head like

Associative Characteristics
-graceful
- gentle
- magical
- light
- fragile

SKETCHING

I began the sketching process by closely studying the seahorse in a more realistic form, observing its curved structure and distinctive details. From there, I experimented with simplifying these elements into cleaner, more abstract shapes and circular qualities that echo its natural curves. This gradual reduction allowed me to capture the essence of the seahorse while moving toward a minimal, graphic mark that balances both its recognizable features and symbolic qualities.

DGITAL ITERATIONS

FINAL MARK

Soft, circular forms capture the seahorse’s delicate structure and graceful movement, while flowing curves create a sense of rhythm and continuity. Its upright pose emphasizes both its quiet resilience and unique presence within the natural world.

PHASE 2: INTERPRETIVE PHASE

In the second phase of the project, the Seahorse is integrated into a typographic composition structured by the Fibonacci grid. This design approach brings clarity and rhythm to the layout, allowing the relationship between image and type to feel both intentional and balanced.

COLOR APPLICATION

Through palette exploration, color was introduced to highlight hierarchy, create balance, and bring a distinct sense of character to the composition.
